We are currently running cross country rides every Sunday, and arranging freeride,
downhill, and jumping sessions for Saturdays. If interested we suggest
you email us and ask to be added to our mailing list so that you can recieve
up to date info.
Typically on Sundays we meet at 11am on campus at Falmer Bar benches, we then head out into the local area. It is mostly cross country riding going through woodland trails and over the downs around campus. There are usually a few uphills and a few downhills but its rarely very difficult riding and we try to keep in a sociable group rather than leaving anyone behind. Its also generally a good idea to bring water and a bit of food, we may be out for a few hours or more.
Saturday rides are more tentative but these are usually kept aside for those of us more into the extreme side of mountain biking, including downhill, dirt jumps, freeride and street. Where we go depends on what we want to ride but we plan to go to various locations.
If you want to come along on any rides you will need a helmet (we
can supply a few) and we recommend getting a USSU sports federation membership.
This membership covers your
insurance for any sport you do at Sussex and enables us to take you on
trips in the minibus to mountain bike meccas. You can get this through the
USSU.info website or direct from the activities office in Falmer
House.
If
you have any mechanical problems we have a full bike toolkit on campus
for everyone to use and
learn how to fix bikes with.
If you need any more info, feel
free to text or email us.
